IS THE MEETING AT GARY'S HOUSE IN WARNER ROBBINS????????????
It says a lot that our concerned citizens who never have more than 12 people at their meetings tried to keep someone out.
Open meetings idealism apparently does not apply to them.
That's a good point anon 6:14.
Here's another point of interest on this group. When they have the upcoming public hearing, they will mobilize their group and fill the room with vocal anti-sentiment. That way when the newspaper article comes out it provides the perception that 'everyone in the county' is upset about this, feeding the frenzy even further. The way you combat this is to have people who agree or at least understand the entire situation to be present (in numbers) and speak up as well. If the state has cleared the county on this mismanagement of splost funds claim, and this group continues with the lawsuit, it would confirm to me that this whole scheme is nothing more than a politically motivated attack. And I don't think I have to call any names.
I spoke with Jay tonight and he said that only one member of the concerned citizens group told him to leave when he first arrived. He asked the others if they wished for him to leave to say so and he would. Since no others in the group spoke up for him to leave he stayed to answer any questions or concerns. I applauded him for attending the meeting knowing he was going to receive some heated questions. He said the meeting was actually productive and he was glad he went.
it would take more than 12 concerned citizens to kick jay out of the pastime grill. i know! i have seen that fat boy in action.
I attended my first ever meeting of the "Concerned Citizens" a few days ago. One person did indeed ask Jay to leave. I'm glad Jay stayed, but that isn't the issue. The issue is the truth.
The truth is:
1.) Meetings of private citizens are not subject to Sunshine Laws or legally required to be open. Quit whining about what Gary or the Concerned Citizens do.
2.) Start worrying about the Ag Expo Authority and where all their records and minutes are. They are required BY LAW to have meetings that are announced. They are required BY LAW to account for all the money they had or have. They are supposed to have spent money in a certain fashion, filed reports, had open meetings, and maintained records.
They did not do that.
Lamar County signed agreements on grants that specifically dictate how and when grant money was to be used, and there are clearly written rules on what happens if the money was not spent for the purpose spelled out in grants.
It seems to me people here have the wrong focus. The small group called the Lamar Ag Expo Authority agreed to follow rules and laws governing authorities, and through the County of Lamar went to voters in Lamar and to the State of Georgia and obtained hundreds of thousands of dollars for specific purposes.
When they got bored with the job they accepted, instead of doing the right thing and having legal meetings, they went underground sold all the County Ag Expo assets to Barnesville for 10 dollars.
It doesn't make sense to pick at Gary McCall for wanting some action taken. There is a great deal of money and land assets, and very clearly the people on the Ag Expo Authority just gave up and gave everything away. They weren't even decent enough to go before the full Commission and ask the county what to do with the assets the County was and is responsible for.
Instead of asking where Gary lives, why not ask whose property is directly adjacent to the land given to Barnesville? Is he a member of the Ag Authority?
Instead of complaining about a meeting between private citizens, why not ask where all the minutes of meetings and accounting information is from a small group who had control of millions of dollars of assets and just decided to give it away. This is a group REQUIRED BY LAW to follow certain procedures.
Surely you guys can do something more constructive for our community than pick on a citizen who is or small group of people who are simply trying to find out where all those millions of dollars of assets went, and how they were handled.
If it takes a lawsuit to get our authorities and elected officials to behave openly and responsibly, then that is what it takes. I say go for it.
All of this bad stuff our community is subjected to comes from officials who don’t follow rules, not from people who want officials to follow the rules. Put the blame where the problem really is.

Tom, Sounds like you have been sipping to much of GMac's kool-aid. Do you at least recognize for yourself this is all political posturing and little to do with concern for the citizens and taxpayers?
WDM: I AM GETTING UP A PETITION TO RECALL COMMISSIONER BROWN DUE TO SOME RECENT THREATS HE HAS MADE WHICH GO AGAINST HIS OATH OF OFFICE. IF SUCCESFUL, WOULD YOU RUN FOR THE VACANT SEAT.
I FIGURE YOU LIVE IN THAT DISTRICT SINCE MOST OF THE MORGANS DO.
I think when someone accepts a position on an authority, they should follow the laws governing that authority.
That includes public meetings, reports required by law, and signed agreements on how they are to handle taxpayer money.
On the other hand a group of hidden chickens wants a few people in Lamar County to be able to do whatever they want regardless of what is ethical or moral.
Blind trust and bending rules gets our County into trouble with twelve packs and Barnesville Judges, puts us all over the six o'clock news, and costs us lawsuits.
The rules work. People in office should follow them.
make sure wdm gets invited. i would like to meet the person that wants to stay in the dark. maybe if he is shown and explained by the pictures or connect the dots he can understand. talk about the blind leading the blind, wdm, you win the prize. you have a closed mind
WDM,
I don't know if you ever actually read and think about what you write, but there is almost nothing useful in it. All you really offer are ad hominem comments.
Everyone already understands you don't like Gary M or anyone else who wants politicians to be held to the law.
Tell us why politicans or people serving on authorities should be allowed to violate laws and written agreements without being questioned. That would be a useful perspective, and might calm all this down!
I might even agree with you if you have a compelling reason why the Ag Expo Autority should have broken rules and agreements with state and voters.
I already know you don't like Gary. Repeating that same tired emotional issue over and over won't help. Make a real point, if you have one.
Tom Rauch
Tom, I don't dislike Gmac, I don't even know him. However, I am smart enough to see through his charade (and I am not even that smart.)
Hey Tom......why should anyone care about what you and Gary say....we are tired of listening to the same old crap over and over. You believe what ever you want to believe and you stop putting down those who do not agree with you.
WDM - From Gary McCall. You say you are smart enough to see through my charade. OK WDM - why don't you tell me what my charade is. Frankly sir, in my opinion you are the one who is clueless and making an above average attempt to have people to pat you on the back. I have no time for you or your nonsense.
Then why reply
Justice is served.
GMAC,
You always seem to think that you could do such a better job than everyone else that is put into or voted into positions in the county. Could it be because you your self have never been asked to serve or elected to serve that makes you determined to rip apart those that have? Jealousy is an evil spirited motivator.
Mr. Rausch, you aint from round here are you boy.
Well Aunt Bee, if you're being lied to and cheated by politicians, what would you do? asked Opie while rocking in the big rocking chair on the front porch in Mayberry.
"I'd call Gary McCall to expose them for what they are doing to us common folks," said Aunt Bee. "Or, maybe we should get informed and find some backbone to stick up for ourselves."
1:41 anon, I hope alcohol was involved in that...or was it something a little more green?
You are a good pot stirrer wdm but a really dumd writer. Do you read what you write or just try and stir with words. Another Ripleys's choice.
I must confess, I am a dumb writer but not dumb enough to misspell dumb. You might want to go back to tifton, dude, and hit the books some more.
Sorry. I got caught up in the moment of talking to a bunch of losers that a "d" jumped in front of my "b". That is my mistake. What is all of yours?
Tifton Dude....I am waiting on you to say something intelligent
TD,
lay off the cow pasture mushrooms b/tween there and Ashburn. Its obviously killing your brain cells.
Stick to discussions about cow tipping and frog gigging.
I smoked some mushrooms from a nearby cow pasture and went up to barnesville to tip over some cows. I caught wdm out in the pasture with some buds and I didn't want to bother them with whatever it was they were doing so I went frog gigging at somebodys fish pond. I didn't catch any but I could hear them. Rip-it - Rip-it goooooood.
What's up?
Just a good ol' boy, never meaning no harm, beats all you ever saw been in trouble with the law since the day they were born. straighting those curves, flatting them hills, some day the mountain might get um be the law never will. making thier way the only way they know how thats just a little bit more than the law will allow.
