When will they start taking applications?

better enjoy it while it last because as soon as they get a load of the local work force they will be on their way back across the ocean where people have a work ethic

WOW.... Way to many people with a negative attitude! Makes me want to shut the doors to the world. Ever take into consideration that the businesses that were here that failed had NOTHING to offer? But when someone builds a 100 million dollar facility, then bail? Dont know about you, but to me it sounds like they know what they are doing.

Funny how we complain about buying products from China, saying they are not good quality, you get what you pay for, etc... but when China comes to America, we wont even try!

I have been to China on Bussiness, therefore I know what the local professionals earn and I tell you it is 1930's income. What I wonder is why here in Lamar Co. that makes it so attractive for their bottom line?

they think they are going to get cheep labor compaired to aother parts of the country, and they will in more ways than one,i'd hate to be the human resources personal for this company

According to the AJC yesterday, part of the wooing of the Chinese company involved going to the Cheetah. Guess enough money can always trump morals. No pouring licenses in Milner, but it is okay to woo business with strippers. Love the double standard.

I work in Newnan and have for a good number of years. I live in Lamar Co.and moved here for the piece and quiet. I saw over the years what big business did for Coweta Co.
Bring the factories and the people will follow. We are in for one heck of a ride.
Better buy up as much land as possible. This place will be a gold mine

They won't bail just because of the local workforce; they will find or import hard workers who respect authority.

As to the bottom line, they need a US distribution point to effectively ship product the the big box retailers such as Depot, Lowes & Walmart. The distribution requirements for those companies all but require a North American facility.

It's going to be good for Lamar County. Those of you who are down on it are probably down on everything anyway. Encouragement isn't in your vocabularies. Those who want to work will find jobs. Those who don't will find the welfare office. Nobody is forcing anyone to work at the new factory but I bet there will be plenty who will want to. This is what Lamar and Barnesville needs.
Those of you who have moved here for the peace and quiet. Think about it. You increased the noise level when you moved here. Some of you more than others.
Not everyone wants to drive 50 miles a day for a decent wage. Or even a living wage.

anon 2:33

I read the article in the AJC and I dont see where any of our local officals took him to the Cheetah. But, really, who cares who wined and dined them or how they did it....it worked! This is great for Lamar Co.

yeah anon 2:33, you must be one of the ones upset because the bikini contest was canned.

This thing is so big...it's almost incomprehensible.

Congrats to the citizens of Barnesville! Job well done to all who were involved. If Chen Xiansheng promised to bring other Chinese firms to Barnesville, get ready for a buusiness and population boom because all the mainland Chinese I know keep their word. I came way to California to learn Chinese and they're coming right in my backyard...Go figure!

the hell with the chinese firms. We need a bikini contest at the
lie brary for.Thats the biggest thing right now

anon 8:30....wait a year or two for the gordon students to start voting in Lamar County. you need to get rid of the last vestigious of the backward thinking generation who kept progress out of Barnesville to die off.

With Gordon being a 2 yr college now, what is the age of the majority of students? Under 21?

Bikini contests don't qualify as progress...its more like taking a few steps back. We should really look into other ways of entertaining ourselves.

speedo contests...now thats progress!

If there's good looking girl's in those speedo's then Im all for it. But if we make it sound like fun the city will shut it down. maybe we should just have bingo night.

Still, no one has answered the question. When do they plan on opening their doors and when will they start taking applications?
