or permanent banishment from lamar county for this serial thief.
story from 5-29 print edition...
Barnesville police have arrested a 15-year-old male juvenile with a Murphey Avenue address in connection with a string of break-ins in the city.
The rash of thefts and attempted thefts began with someone repeatedly stealing change from a pickup truck at a home on Murphey.
On May 14, Milano’s was burglarized and cash was taken. Three days later, burglary attempts were made at 1st Franklin Financial and The Movie Gallery. On May 21, an attempt was made to burglarize Roses and Movie Gallery was successfully burglarized with cash taken.
On May 23, both Subway and the Upson Regional Medical building on College Drive were burglarized. The burglar was caught on tape by security cameras at Subway.
City investigators Al Moltrum and Dickie Carreker said they recognized the juvenile from previous cases. He was on probation for a previous theft from his school. The officers went to the Murphey Avenue home, spoke with the suspect’s mother and she gave them permission to search his room where they found the cash taken from Subway.
“We called the school and had the school resource officer pull him out of class. He admitted all the thefts,” Carreker said.
The youth was already on probation. At a hearing May 24, his probation was revoked and he was sent to boot camp for 60 days.
“When he gets out, he will face the charges in the latest thefts,” Moltrum concluded.

Send him to boot camp and then out on the street a fitter theif.
Way to go Batman and Robin
Bootcamp is not going to help this kid. The legal system is so screwed up, he will be back out on the streets in 6 months.
Money "repeatedly" stolen from a truck on Murphy Ave???? I think after the first time I would have started locking my doors.
Anyway, great job BPD! Thanks for keeping our little town as safe as possible, considering the limited number of officers yall have.
Batman for Sheriff!!!!!
BootCamp, maybe. But how about something more positive in his life and a good mentor that can help re-direct his life. Maybe he needs to give back to the community by helping others and also by having to see first hand victims and hear from them how theft effects them personally everyday.Put him face to face with victims and hear and see their stories.
i say make him do community service by picking up the trash that people throw out along the highway!
personally it sounds like this kids didn't get is ass beat enough. a good ol whooping would do the trick. parents are too scared to discipline their children now a days then wonder why they go and commit crime a few years down the road
I'd vote for Batman.
Me 2 GO BATMAN
It sounds like this CHILD is already past the point of no return. Give him a shot at boot camp but keep his jail cell ready because he will need it when he becomes an adult. His momma should probably be along side of him. His daddy is probably already there if anyone knows where he is. It's a crying shame.
For those of you who will blame the system, the system didn't raise him. Jail won't improve him but it will keep him off the streets for a little while. Making him a better criminal. Take him to see his victims, then he will know who he's robbing next time.
Put some sweat equity in his sentence. Make him work. Every day. No sick days, no being late. No vacation. Make him work eight hours a day at a menial task for six months and tell him this is where he will end up for the rest of his life. Make little rocks out of big rocks or some other very physical job. Show him what others have to work for.
8:48 thats called the military
The military does not want or need this guy!
9:14 p.m. I know first hand that beating and abusing a child does not change what they become as they get older. It is a choice that they make. You can raise a child to be respectful and well mannered while he or she is at home but when they get out from under their parents wing then they choose what they do. Therefore if they do the crime let them do the time.
Way to go Fatman and Robin.
dont be jealous
Where in the world were the parents while this kid was out being a thug??
