Can someone please explain to me what the City's issues are?
As an outside observer, it appears to me that the county is trying to resolve this matter, but keeps getting blocked by the City.

This no anonymous thing has really cleared up the information super highway hasn't it. I always felt anonymous was dangerous because it could allow people to truly open Pandora's box -- there would be no end to the pots people could stir anonymously.
i agree with 11:10 , sure wont be much fun having a discussion with people that agree with you,the reason for a bolg is for different people to voice their opinions but my guess would be that one to many comments were made about a certian church around the lamar county area,well time to move on
Who are you people trying to protect? You see what happens when you give into this whole B/S idea of "Political Correctness", people don't want to communicate anymore!. If people of political office or inside a pulpit don't want their name ran down, then don't stand up and try to lead individuals- IT COMES ALONG WITH THE TERRITORY, believe it or not individuals will not always agree. I thought this was a good way to express opinion and humor inside our community, but I guessed wrong. From a free society to small town censorship, what a great time to be an American.

The city probably made the right move. I wonder there is alledged to be many secret meetings by the Ag Board and the School Board, I would hope the State Attorney General would find cause to prosecute each and every one of them for violating the sunshine laws.

The law states that dissolution of an authority results in all property and assets going to the county. The ag authority wanted to dissolve and the board of commissioners sent a resolution to the state legislature but it was returned after it was learned that the ag authority had given its property to the city and there was a dispute. Ag authority must hold all property and money in trust for its benefit and to further its purpose, i.e. to promote agriculture. How did it do that by giving its property to the City. That was county property that they just gave away for no compensation. In my opinion it was unlawful. Why negotiate to split the proceeds of any sale with the city when they have no right to the property? Sue them and the ag authority and get the property back. Keep what the county wants and sell the rest whether it is to the city or the shool board.

Law that created it says all property and cash is to be held in trust for the benefit of the authority. They can sell at FMV or below FMV but there is no authority for giving it away. Why did they? If the city wanted it, why wasn't it sold to the city? Negotiation is not necessary here. File suit against ag authority and city to invalidate the transfer because it was unlawful. Then dissolve the authority, keep what the county wants, sell the rest and put it in the general fund. It could go a long way to reducing our taxes.

this censorship is total BULLSHIT! if people do not want to read the TRUE feelings we all have about issues then dont ask the DAMN questions that you really do want answers or opinions on. just bury your heads in the sand and continue on in your sanitary little worlds.
