Here we go again, the DA is afraid of the defendant, so he dont want to try the Defendant. The Judge I was told was Tough. I dont believe that either. Both, the Judge and the DA should get another job.

What the hell is wrong with yall? The man committed a crime, plead guilty, and is sentenced to 10 years, 100k fine and stripped of his business. Do you honestly think the DA didn't want to prosecute him, so he convinced rudy to enter a guilty plea? What else do you want from him? What can he do to right his wrongs, in your eyes? He has admitted his wrongdoings and accepted responsibility for his actions.
I owe Mr. Vaughn and the Rock Springs Church an apology. I assumed he had joined rock springs church to gain sympathy from a jury, likely to be made up of some of his fellow church-goers. let's see if i can explain it succinctly...
rudy deeded the bbq place to the county. had the county gone to trial and seized it, the state would have gotten half the money. so, we are better off on that.
as to the $100,000 - rudy was out of jail on a $1 million bond. he put up $900,000 in property and $100,000 in cash. he forfeited that cash to the county.
the prosecution waived recidivist (repeat offender) treatment for rudy. in return he waived his right to an appeal. recidivist status would have required he serve 90% or more of the prison sentence.
rudy is now a three time loser. he has previous felony convictions in georgia and west virginia. i'm guessing he does five years. some say more. some say less.
peggy dorsett is free and clear. lonnie hines and jerry vaugh go to trial here july 16. the cases against them do not require testimony from rudy.
robert vaughn et. al. go to court april 30 in pike county. i do not know if rudy will testify in that case.

When I think about how much money it is costing Fulton County to try a murderer there, it is clear that we have a court system and District Attorney who know how to handle a case and do right by the citizens. A twenty year sentence with ten years to be served in prison, fines totaling over $500,000 which were paid upfront, and no trial costs...Hat's off to ya' District Attorney Milam. You're OK in my book!
Is it true that the sheriff was worried about the evidence that came out on the Motion to Suppress Evidence in the Vaughn case? A friend of mine who was in the courtroom said that Vaughn's attorney said the search warrant was no good, and that the Judge who usually denies these motions took it under consideration. If evidence was tossed out, what would have happened to the Sheriff's case?
Good job court system, District Attorney, and law enforcement! A thief who keeps getting caught deserves a big sentence, which is just what Rudy got!
If the evidence was suppressed would that have made Rudy any less guilty? So many crooks get off on technicalities that it is good to see a confessed crook go to jail. Rudy admits he was guilty. So obviously the sheriff had a righteous case. You can't pick on the man for that.

Having said that, let me also say that a pastor coming to court with one of his members doesn't mean that the pastor thinks he's innocent or that the pastor condones anything he may have done. It is simply supporting a brother in Christ, just the same as if your real brother got into trouble. You may not necessarily like what he did, or condone it, but as his brother, most likely you will go with him to support him.

Well it's finally over. Will the results please everyone, absolutely not! Rudy is attending church @ Rock Springs and I certainly commend Pastor Benny Tate for being there for his member. This is not a plug for Rock Springs because I attend church some where else.This is what the bible tell us that we are suppose to do. Rudy is accountable to God to ask him for forgiveness and that is solely between him and God. Rudy has pled quilty, paying fines, forfieting items & real estate, and has pubically apologized, what more do you want from him? This is all that he is required to do by God's standards. The bible tells us"judge not least ye be judged" & "You will be judged in the manner in which you judge", God also tells us that there is no sin greater than the other. So, it's now on you and I what we do with his apology and admission of guilt & it will determine what price we pay individually if we pass judgement. Rudy's true test will come, what will he do when he gets out? Will this type life style continue, what about his live in girlfriend? Will he make it right in Gods eyes since fornification is prohibited by God? Or will he let his live in girlfriend who is so called "independentally wealthy" cost both of them their salvation over "her money"? True meaning to the bible script "it is easier for a camel to go thru the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter heaven" There is no doubt that she should be going to prison with him but,only by Gods grace is she not going. Will she use this as a wake up call to get her life in order, after all, she did get another chance. Thanks to the DA, he saved the county alot of money and chances are, it would not have been any better if they had not plea bargained. Some, because of a knowledge deficit call it being afarid of the defendent, reality is that it was a very smart move.
