judge tommy wilson granted two motions to suppress evidence taken from a computer at the home and shop of rudy vaughn and peggy dorsett, one taken from rudy's house of bbq and one taken from the home of tomeka dorsett, who was not indicted.
assistant district attorney scott johnston said there was no evidence on the hard drives.
just before lunch, testimony began on motions to suppress evidence discovered under three search warrants with former investigator chuck ledbetter, now with the fayette sheriff's office, testifying about being aproached by steve estes who had been offeed a 'brand new' john deere tractor for $4000 by jerry vaughn. estes was also offered a cummings diesel engine.
ledbetter and a confidential informant then went undercover, arranged a buy and jerry vaughn was arrested. that led to a 'large cache' of tractors in north pike county and the arrest of ben harris. a helicopter was used prior to the arrest of harris from which a large number of green tractors were spotted in a wood line at the north pike location.
harris, after consulting attorney virgil brown, then began to cooperate with authorities, leading them to rudy vaughn, ledbetter testified.
judge tommy wilson ruled earlier that jurors will be brought in in groups of 12 and questioned during voir dire, rejecting a motion for individual voir dire asked for by hogue and morris.
court has adjourned for lunch until 1:15 p.m.
