friday rudy update..

friday morning's session continued with defense efforts to suppress the original search warrants for the home, shop and restaurant of rudy vaughn and peggy dorsett.

thus far there has been little or no testimony damning to dorsett though attorney ricky morris has asked almost every witness about her involvement. interestingly, she told officers during the first search that she had a trust fund that would take care of her, her children and grandchildren for the rest of her life, according to testimony.

vaughn's attorney, frank hogue, has hammered on the depth, accuracy and validity of the information given to magistrate judge william thomas when he signed the three original search warrants. much of his hammering was on ben harris. harris' home on bethany church road in pike county is where multiple stolen john deere tractors were found along with a cut up and buried stolen truck.

harris is the man who originally implicated rudy vaughn and alleged robert vaughn had called his brother to warn him police were onto him and to 'clean up'

lamar investigator steve burge hurriedly got warrants but could have searched without them because of the warning, the prosecution argued.

hogue hammered harris' credibility. "what if ben harris is a liar. he's in jail. he's trying to work a deal. he's a thief. he's a snitch. they're trying to flip him," hogue argued.

there were indications closing arguments on the suppression would be done in writing, perhaps after a transcript of this week's proceedings is prepared.

court has adjourned until 1 p.m.
