last week - in the aftermath of the virginia tech shootings - a student at pike county high school allegedly threatened other students. there were reports of a gun or guns on campus and an alleged hit list.
the 15-year-old student who made the threats has not been identified and his/her case will be handled in juvenile court.
is that response too soft? does it encourage other would be shooters/crazies?
many involved with media law here in georgia feel the state's statute cloaking juvenile identities in criminal cases is unconstitutional and are awaiting the proper test case to challenge it.
what do you think?

stomp a mudhole in his a$$ then go looking for his sorry parents and pound their a$$'s so they wont be going "NOT MY LITTLE ANGLE" he wouldnt do anything like that
So what age makes someone an adult versus a child?
This is not limited to Georgia; virtually all western nations protect the rights of minors including privacy.
I some cases they should be protected but when it comes to violence, the privacy rights should not matter. If they are prone to violence at a young age then they usually are that way as adults. They need to start taking everyones rights into consideration.
There should be no blanket rule. Each case should be considered on its merits. Some juvenilles can be saved, others not.
Well said Anon. 7:44. Every case should be handled based on the facts of that particular case and the history of the offender.
As long as we have liberal's they will keep allowing the little sh23s to do as they please, and then blame a republican when they dont turn out right. SPANK THEIR A32ES WHEN THEY DO WRONG.If you refuse to spank your children then you should not be a parent.
anyone remember Michael Fay and his little trist in Singapore? I bet that he will not ever vandelize another thing in his life! Their president made a wonderful speech after the caning that went right to the heart of whats wrong with America's youth. look it up on the net if you like, it was great!
Unfortunately the poor child we’re talking about is a victim here. I am close to the situation and happen to know that this is all about false accusations. There is NO evidence that proves he did anything. It is sad that the kids who started these rumors won’t be punished but this child who is innocent may be. I think it should be taken case by case. In this case things should’ve been handled A WHOLE LOT differently by the school and everyone involved.
As for stomping a mud hole in his parents a$$---what happened to innocent instead of PROVEN guilty????????
Ok, Ok, I meant innocent UNTIL proven guilty! :-)
Dane Bishop could pass for a juvenile.
8:55 - you mean in Singapore. He has already done it again in the USA.
9:24,
sorry if my info is not correct. i searched the net before the posting and did not see that he has been at it again.
cool article on WSBTV a while ago talking about youths problems today. anaylist say that it really started in the 1980's with society telling every child that they are "special". we have replaced home discipline with warm fuzzy feelings and blaming ourselves for what our childern do. correct to some extent but dang, kids at some point need to take responsibility for their actions.
as far as "special", the article made alot of sense after i look back at growing up in the late 70's and early 80's. you can find examples of this everywhere from rewritten preschool songs to that cyber cess pool called MYSPACE. bring back the 70's and lets call it OURSPACE. loose the individualistic mindset and realize that you are part of a community where we are all responsible for our actions. lets keep their butts in school and push them to excel rather than become complacent and accept what ever happens.
POWP
I believe the violent cases are being handled properly. It's the smaller crime's such as theft, drug posession, ect. that need more attention. It seem's like if the juvenile did'nt kill someone then the court's want nothing to do with them.
