a second vote for Luther

Another vote for Luther. He would only charge the city a dollar and a pack of basic lights.

I am going with Luther. He has a clear lead and can probably win this thing

Looks like Luther is gonna win by a landslide

Isn't leadership Lamar an oxymoron?

LUTHER LUTHER LUTHER!!!! LADYWHOOO WAAAANNKK!!!!!!! KILL Y-T

Anonymous said...

Pardon my stupidity, but who is Luther?

Anonymous said...

What kind of qualifications, if any, must an individual have for this position?

Luther is that pretty little thing that sashays around with the yellow plastic gloves on. He's too sweet. If you know what I mean.

Luther is just one of Barnesville's many elite citizens. He represents the best in our community and through his hard work and excellence he has become the forerunner for all citizens to follow to that glorious kingdom of Government Dependency. With a little hope and prayer many more could possibly follow this true leader down the path of Democratic Righteousness and into the heavenly pockets of the Middle Class Workers of America. So soft is this pocket,GLORY-GLORY-GLORY,and he shall bask with may others in it's infinite bottom forever and ever! All the people say it with me know, AMEN!! Respectfully Yours, Rev.MJB Middle Class Workers Union

Anon 12:34, You got the wrong guy. Luther is usually wearing a Georgia Tech shirt, hat, pants, socks ect. He likes to loiter and smoke and loves long walks around Main Street. He plans to vote for Hillary Clinton and attend all GA Tech home games that his busy schedule will allow. For more info go to www.lutherispossiblyatB&Lrightnow.com/#1techfan. Rev.MJB MCW Union

Just a little fun. Hope it doesn’t offend our leadership but, this is how I would score the test. As a public citizen this is how I see it. It's hard to choose a nominee with such a record.

How would you score the test if I were handing out the grade?

What are the powers and responsibilities of the county commission?

• Build and maintain roads, bridges & sometimes airports (F-)

• Control & care for county property (F-)

• Appoint board of tax assessors to value all property (C)

• Plan and provide for parks, playgrounds, and other recreational facilities. (F)

• Prepare, review, & decide on annual county budget (F-)

• Appoint & direct the county officials under their authority* (Not Graded)

• Set and collect county taxes (A+) To the excess

• Provide for law enforcement and correctional facilities in the county (B)

• License and tax businesses within the county (F-)

• Store, purify, and distribute water (B+)

• Build and maintain storm water and sewage system (C)

• Provide for solid waste collection and disposal (A+)

• Develop and enforce building codes (D-)

• Provide for jails (C)

• Provide for the protection of the general health and welfare of county residents (C)

• Promote economic and industrial development (F)

• Undertake comprehensive planning, zoning, and development controls (D)

• Provide emergency management (sheriff, law enforcement, fire response) (B)

Now if the selection was a nominee for taxing the most, providing the least, giving away our assets and folding your hand, and pretending to listen and act for the people, then we could have a contest. I know my selection. How about you?

Gary I think you would be a great canadite for the leadership course. Would you be interested in going through it?

Gary..Do you even live in Lamar County? If you do I will look forward to seeing your name on the next ballot for county commission. In sure you will be able to bring on the short comings up to at least a B+.

TJ – Did my comments offend thee? My property and home is located in district 3. My name was on the last ballot and will be on the next one if there are no complications that prevent it.

So that you will understand me. I say what I believe without hiding behind a fake name. I can admit I’m wrong if you prove that I am. If you don’t like what I have to say, don’t read it, or if you prefer, rebut it. The only way to bring the score up is our commissioners working as a team, communicating with each other, with the city, and with other agencies within the county, listening to the people and acting on their behalf. On the other hand, the people need to get involved with what’s going on. Most don’t, and I’d just about be willing to bet that most of them don’t even know who their commissioner is. The people need to be kept informed and that doesn’t happen. The county needs to plan for the future, not just next week. Honesty and operating within the law goes a long way. No sense writing a book though. I don’t wish to use a sledge hammer to drive a thumb tack.

Gary,
You have yet to answer my question, would you be interested in taking the class?
Anon 11:21

I'm not familiar with what class you are referring to.

The leadership Lamar class. It's purpose is to educate our future leaders about everything having to do with Barnesville and Lamar Co.
(industry,county,city,schools,
growth,ect).
Its a great thing and I believe with your knowledge you would be an asset to the class.
Contact the Chamber if you are interested. Only twenty people will be chosen for this years class.
You always talk about changing Lamar Co. for the better. Here is your chance.

Perhaps it would be better served if we used the money to teach a class to our current leadership on honesty, communication skills, teamwork, planning, vision, and money management.

Anonymous said...

So I take it you will not be taking the course.

Gary,
You like to bitch and complain about our local leaders but here's your chance to make a difference in the community. Take the class. It's time for you to put up or shut up.
