most seriously injured in this evening's crash was steve hicks. he has a possible broken arm and neck and shoulder injuries but is expected to recover.
suffering lesser injuries was deputy brandon goins.
the first rescuers to reach the accident scene on highway 41 south near crawford road found bunn free of the totaled patrol car but stunned and staggering about.
hicks was found half in, half out of the overturned patrol car as rainwater poured in through the shattered glass. lifeflight medical evacuation helicopters were grounded at the time due to severe weather.
the crash occurred at about 7:45 p.m. in heavy weather. no other vehicles were involved.
