Here is one of the most dangerous men in America.
YUK!!!!!
How is he Dangerous? I dont feel danger by him being in the area. I guess that is all a matter of opinion.
Yes...just we need another fundamentalist Christian in B'ville. I'm sorry I'll have to pass on that "illustrious event".
anon 8:27, this is an opinion site
Could someone please tell me who this man is, maybe a little about him? Thank you
Scared of what might ring true!
9:33 i could'nt agree more,and yes this is a dangerous man
the people of that church are so bible blind it dosen't matter what the truth might be,there is something bad wrong when a church invites somebody like this
is this fruitloop the same one that said he was going to pray away the huricane that time?
Rock Springs Church should be ashamed of itself. This guy is a lunatic of the highest order.
Maybe he'll cancel again. The phrase WWJD certainly doesn't apply to what this blowhard preaches. His language is filled with haterism and uses the words of our Lord with twists and turns to make his secular points. We have become victims of our own stupidity over the last decade for even allowing his type in the pulpit.
rock springs is going the way of all other wana-be mega churches, its all about the money and publisity it want be long every time the preacher starts it will be just like first assembly bring me money, momey, money the more money you bring me the closer i'll get you to heaven
Falwell has always been more Hollywood than holy and just as sincere.
Any church that invites Jerry Falwell to it's groundbreaking ceremony is not a church that I would like to attend. The Bible teaches us to be aware of false prophets.
Maybee Jim Bakker will be next!
If you've never attended a service at Rock Springs, you should definitely try it at least once. It is one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed.
What a production! The choreography was top-notch. The performers were well-rehearsed.
I truly felt like an outsider, since I didn't know the songs they were singing. (Of course, no hymn books were used...all contemporary songs.) Instead, the words were projected on huge screens throughout the auditorium.
The performers had Britney-style head set microphones. The choir came out singing & dancing. The musicians were great!
Then it hit me...I'M AT A CHURCH SERVICE! It honestly felt more like I was watching a stage play. (A comedy, no less.) I looked around at the HUNDREDS of people there, and felt so sorry for them.
At the same time, I felt such disdain for the pastor who is taking advantage of those poor people.
It makes perfect sense to host Jerry Falwell there. He will be treated like the king he wishes he were.
Anon 7:34AM Boy you seem to know alot about Fallwell. Is this personal knowledge or something you read out of a magazine? It is interesting.
The Holy Spirit is ALIVE at Rock Springs Church. No rehearsing is needed when Jesus is the star.
i used to think there was something strange about that place, now i know there is!between randolph vaughn and jerry falwell they ought to be able to put one hell of a snow job over on those poor poor lost soules
Whooah...You folks may be blogging these remarks 'anonymously' for man to read but God knows who you are. I'm not a member of Rock Springs, never been there for a service, but you guys are pushing the envelope with the big Man upstairs. I did hear the Rock Springs preacher at a funeral for a family member and that guy is as good as preacher as I have ever heard. It definitely helped me understand what was going on at Rock Springs.
My question is, why give free advertising for such a blowhard?
After 911, the news said that Jerry said the attacks were God's punishment for homosexuals.
How much money did he spend suing Larry Flynt for that parody ad?
By the way, if you search wikipedia for larry flynt, or larry flynt hustler ad, you'll really get something to read.
I want to regard him as a religious statesman, but just can't after refreshing my memory on his antics.
I think Jerry is a big blowhard.
I also think that the free advertising he will receive here is indicative of the long term illnesses present within our local media.
Obviously, those of you down on Rev. Falwell have never actually heard him speak. Probably all you have heard is liberal tv sound bites. The man is a man of God and preaches love and peace. He also calls sin sin and that is what hurts peoples feelings.
And about Rock Springs Church, why are you down on it? Because some people are receiving healing and comfort. Some are having their faith renewed. No one is forcing anyone to go to Rock Springs. No one forces anyone to pay anything at Rock Springs. You haven't lost any money there yet you complain that others pay. You are the hypocrites!
As far as Randolph Vaughn attending goes, Rock Springs is all inclusive. Sinners and saved alike attend. What better place for a sinner to be than in church. It is the perfect place for people who aren't.
The pastor at Rock Springs is a man of GOD and every sermon is based on the bible. He gives encouragement where its needed and also direction where it is needed. He is loving and caring to everyone.
Yes the services are moving and lively. That is what it takes to draw people in this day and age. Any church that is growing has to be in touch with the culture of the day. There are a lot of churches that are doing the same thing they were doing in the 1950s but they are stagnant or dying. Don't be down on a church that is dynamic and growing.
At least Rock Springs is being uplifting and consoling to those who need it instead of so negative and down on everything the way a majority of these blogs are.
10:01 Thank you, Thank you ! You hit the nail on the head. I could not have said it better myself. How can anyone knock a church that has grown like Rock Springs has. Is there any other church in Lamar County grown like this? To go from having about 20 in attendance on Sunday to having around 1,000, this says something in itself. I pray for you people that are knocking this church. What you are saying shows your character and how much of a christian you are. Alot of this boils down to jealousy. The growth of this church is amazing. If you have not been there. Try it before you knock it. They seem to be doing something right.
I wouldn't knock the church because it is filled with wonderful Christian people from all walks of life. The facilities are beautiful and the growth has been astonishing...
But I must admit that it seems odd that Falwell would be invited to preach. Look at this blog and you get a small taste of the controversy that follows him. He hurts people with some of the things he says. I like for a preacher to step on toes every now and then but he goes too far.
I'm sorry but people are going to complain about everything. If it were God himself coming to Rock Springs then I am quite certain some grouch would have something to say. It is my opinion that the people who have heard Falwell and are against him have at least listened to him once. I heard him the last time he came to the church and thought he was quite sincere. You don't have to agree with everything someone says but to say he is evil is just wrong. The hatred for mankind alone in the world today is a sure sign this world is dwindling to the last of existence. I do not attend church to impress or be impressed by the preacher or any speaker. I attend church to have my spiritual time with my God. If you are there for the right reason, it shouldn't matter who is in that pulpit or what earpiece they are wearing. As far as the Pastor taking anyones money, YOU have NEVER attended a service at Rock Springs or you wouldn't make that comment. Our Pastor does not ask for money from the congregation in any shape. You give if you want but if you don't there is no problem with it. The Bible says you give at least 10% of what you receive back to God and that means giving to his house, or his cause. Time is winding down people, you really should start thinking about where your heart is now!
a man of god my ass, this clown has one thing on his mind a thats to get as much money as he can from the home bound eldery, and anyone else stupid enough to fall for his tv bull crap, makes a person wonder about his tie to rock springs
4:25 I guess you know so much why don't you produce some facts instead of that ignorant comment. If you wonder about Rock Springs, then attend a service or two. Or attend service at any church. Every church to my knowledge receives an offering! People will always look down on someone or something that is doing good. Find a better issue to spew your hatred on!
5:07 Amen, you are sooo right.
I don't know anything about Rock Springs Church but when you associate yourself with crooks like Falwell, you open the door for citicism.
and please tell us what he stole from you?
the purpose of a blog page is for people post what they think or feel
about an issue if you dont like the post go to another site the only people i know of that have a problem with freedom of speech seem to be the religious ones,i wonder why that is? 9:25 you speek the truth with that statement anything else said after that is nothing more than BLL BUTTER
9:25AM Do you have proof that Fallwell is a Crook? Then Share it with us. Makes it easier to understand if someone has facts to share.
Anyone who exploits religion for personal gain is a crook, in my opinion. He is the original media whore.
Don't forget he was a staunch segregationist until it became bad for "business".
So, if anyone receives a salary for preaching the gospel, he is a crook. Right? Let me quote the phrsse I hear so often from those who rarely attend church and know only a few Bible passages..."Judge not, least ye be judged." Then there's this one! "Let he that is without sin cast the first stone." Can I hear an amen?
AMEN!!!!
No one has a problem with freedom of speech but its slander that is bothersome to me. If you don't have facts to back up an allegation of crook then you simply shouldn't say it. No Christian has ever claimed to be perfect! I am sure Mr. Falwell has made mistakes but that doesn't justify calling him a crook especially if he hasn't took from you!
He has been in the middle of numerous fraud investigations throughout the years, the most famous being when the SEC (securities and exchange commission) chrarged him with issuing fraudulent bonds in the 70's. You can believe he's innocent if you want to but i think he is guilty and therefore a crook.
As posted earlier, no one is perfect including Christians and we all make mistakes. I'm willing to bet you've taken something without asking or that don't belong to you. Are you a crook? Please don't play the one is different than the other cause its all sin in God's eyes. We have sin to be forgiven so he may have done as you said but I assure you he was forgiven by the only one that matters and that is not you!
If you really wany to defend and support a man that thinks anit-abortionists and homosexuals were responsible for 9-11 then go ahead. You are just as much of a joke as he is.
When I observe a person's actions and understand their words it becomes apparent if they are of those who unite or of those who divide the people of this creation.
What does this man do when using the name of God?
9:00 AM said "What does this man do when using the name of God?" more people have died all over the world IN THE NAME OF GOD than anything else, just think about it the list goes on and on from the native americans, incas, myans, the crussades,to the salem witch trials, save their savage souls form hell and damnnation, sounds great to me---unite people-- sounds like to me its more of beleive in my religious beliefs or die
Face it Jerry Falwell is nothing but a snakeoil salesman who uses religion to make ca$h. Rock Springs is not presenting themself in a good light by associating with this "televangelist" and I use that term loosely, because the only thing that Jerry Falwell is faithful to is lining his big fat wallet!
When in the name of God........Yes, you are right. The word "God" has a different meaning to each person. It was those who see God as something that it would be impossible for God to be who has done such harm to others.
jesus's teachings caused contoveryin his day because of the type people he taught.people did not think he should be teaching the poor, drunks, sick, and the wicked.jesus said he that is without sin cast the first stone.I have no stones to cast, because all have sinned and come sort of the glory of God.jesus's folowing grew from 12 to 1000's so rock springs is following in great footsteps. rock springs has done nothing but make me feel welcome everytime i have attended.I pray you would come and see for yourself. micheal shackelford
