The difference in the wages doesn't make up for the lost jobs. Just another case of losing jobs overseas.
can you blame them, try to run a business with the type employees in the work force today, every time you turn around they have to be off work for something, but you can bet your sweet ass they show up on payday.and everybody wonders why all the jobs are going over seas you cant blame them a bit
I would recommend they contact Florida Rock to see if they can get a quarry put in. This will take care of at least 12 of these people.
Lets see, they are on a few acers over in Pike Co.employing 190 people. Follow me now. We in Lamar Co. will see a quarry come in on over 300 acers and employ a handfull of people. At least our leaders in Lamar Co. know how to attract big business.
if you were the owners of a large corp. and by chance you stumbled on barnesville, what would be your opinion?would you want to relocate your business here?think about it and if you are truthfull with yourself you will say NO and why you ask?every place you go in this town all you see are punks with their pants down around their butts ,hats twisted on their heads,or some cow with her herd of rugrats running thru some store, houses with junk cars and crap stacked all over the place open your eyes people corporations dont locate in 3rd world towns
That's true anonymous @ 1:37. They locate them in 3rd world countries and pay 25 cents an hour. It's called NAFTA.
Why should a company pay $8.00 per hour for that when they can get it in a 3rd world coutry for .25 per hour. I think it is wrong for a company to locate their manufacturing outside of the US but still able to deduct manufacturing expenses from their taxes.
more power to'em,.25 an hour in a 3rd world country gets you more than 15.00 and hour gets you here, and you dont have to deal with bums that wont show up for work because they got drunk watching the race or ball game or at the deer camp
Anonymous @ 3:48
There is some truth in what you say but people willing to work far outnumber those that don't. Can you see any damage NAFTA is doing to our country? NAFTA needs to be scraped and America needs to start manufacturing again. Until the liberals are gone that want to go into debt and provide for all the sorry folks that refuse to work, things are sure to keep going down hill.
g mccall, iagree with you 100% the work ethic in this country is very bad,as far as the liberals go they have to keep these bums happy or they wont get reelected
No demand for a Piano with a kick starter?
NAFTA isn't just a liberal thing folks! George Bush, Sr. pushed for it. Can't you see the big picture? Most of the politicians are controlled by huge corporations. Democrats, Republicans---it really doesn't matter. All you have to do is look at the respective donor lists of each party and you will see that they same multinational conglomerates donate to each part! Don't blame the liberals, blame greedy corporations!
That is true. NAFTA is not just a liberal thing. George Bush started it and Bill Clinton finalized it. Now Bush Jr. is wanting to add more pain to it.
This country was by the people for the people, but not so any longer. Government has been seized by wealthy business and smart attorneys. In my opinion, they act on behalf of the wealthy and fund their dealings with middle income taxes. We must elect whomever the money wants in power because that happens to be our only choice.
We don't need another republican or a democrat in office. We need a PERSON. A person that can't be bought by special interest. We need someone to get things right with the people once again.
As for Yamaha. Lost jobs overseas affects American people. American people need to buy American made products. If it's not made in America, pass it by.
2:00 said"American people need to buy American made products. If it's not made in America, pass it by". i was watching a program the other night about some plant closing in the mid west and this union idiot was on screaming buy american --he was wearing a pair of nike shoes and had a noki cell phone hanging from his pants pocket typical union jerk proberly went home and sat down in front of his sanyo tv with his lg microwave anybody that says buy only american is way out of touch with reality i'll bet you that 99% of the items or some part of them--come from overseas
Is there such a thing as an American product anymore? Look under the hood of your "American" car & you'll notice that at best, it was assembled here with foreign components.
Don't blame politicians or businesses. If Americans really cared, they would be willing to spend 2-3 times more money and actually buy American made products. But why pay $30 for a US made shirt that has the same (or worse) quality than the $10 one made in Malaysia?
Anonymous @ 1:30 PM and 2:32 PM. I can't argue with anything you said.
I said buy American, but like you said, it is hard to find anything made in America.
If we don't start manufacturing again...well, you all can figure it out for yourself.
On the other hand, I will put it on our leadership. They allowed it to take place. They sold us out to the lowest bidder overseas. It won't be long before the USA will be under new ownership if the people don't start speaking up. Everyone needs to start learning a new language.
I may be the only one, but this mess sickens me.
GARY MCCALL well said,i have a small business that i run part time and have for 20 years,i make a small product sold in some local stores,i watch people buy basicly the same item i make form a forigen company ( my item has printed MADE IN THE USA on the front) when they could buy an product made right here in America just so the can save a nickle

This just goes to show that people are more concerned about BS than they are something that will one day affect every person in America.
Law enforcement has done and is doing their job.
In the future YOU ALL will be looking for a job. Why? Because your concerns are about what someone else is doing or has done, and not how American jobs are being rapidly shipped overseas.
the only way anybody will take any action is when it effects them personaly,as with this issue it will be to late the damage will already be done
at the rate we are going; in 10 years we will all be speaking spanish and working for bosses from Japan or India
