I guess now you will have to define renters and visitors living in the residence. They didn't accomplish anything.

A step in the right direction to bring order amoung the rental gurus

Since we are all children of God, we must all be cousins, so this law will not change anything!

A step in the right direction to steal your liberties as an American citizens maybe.

how many rental homes does a person have to have to be considered a rental guru? and how many to be just a gu?

Only one will make you a guru. But if one of your tenants has a party, you are a "slum lord".

what are you if you own a home and have a party and invite a bunch of tenants from other homes as well as other home owners

According to the law's supporters, you shouldn't get a ticket because you can afford to own property. So long as the party-goers are wealthy enough to own homes, they can party til the crack of dawn. See, the original laws still apply to them, i.e. noise violations, littering, etc. The new laws only apply to those without the necessary means for a necessary means of buying a house in their neighborhood.

This law is not enforceable. It is in place in every college town in GA, and not one of those towns can enforce it. I know bc I broke it when I was in school, as did nearly every group of students that rented houses. On my street alone, 90% of the houses were rented by students, and none of them were related, and it was zoned as single family. We even got turned in for having too many unrelated people living there, after a noise complaint from our neighbor during a football tailgate that raised thousands of dollars for charity. However, since only two names were on the lease, there was nothing they could do.

Any landlords looking for a way through this bs, just put two names on the lease, and accept payments from only those two people. If they want to "sublease" a room to a friend, that is within their rights as tenants.

I thought this was what a lot of you wanted, to see Gordon grow and become a 4 year college. Gordon has lowered their standards to were they will take anybody to get grant money and pad their numbers for this reason. Maybe if Gordon would raise their standards this problem would not exist.

Minus the legal issue side of it...I believe they are going to be passing this zoning change thing. If the city voted 4-0, you better believe someone is behind the scene conducting this deal like a symphony. And other than when necessary, I like for people to be able to enjoy the liberties of being an American without government intervention. A few college kids teaming up to share the rent being one of those. That being said, I can tell you guys and gals that the person behind this whole zoning change deal just might be one of these 'rental guru's' and at minimum a housing or apartment developer. For public support they are using college kids partying but trust me it's bigger than that.

Gordon College's standards have absolutely nothing to do with this. Anytime 18-25 year olds are away from home they will party and act their age. Doesn't matter if the students go to state schools, private or even Ivy League; all the college towns have the same problem.

Not sure this is an enforceable law anyway - how do you prove you are related or more importantly how will Johnny Law prove you aren't related?

If you don't like the parties MOVE!!. Maybe that will open up some room to navigate Thomaston st. when the howty towdy key parties have everything blocked up. If you don't like the way the town is shaping up just do us all a favor and get out.

Anonymous said...

i couldn't answer that without knowing what a howdy towdy is

Gordon's admission standards are set by the state, not locally.
