RE: County Administrator/Clerk Position

Dear Sirs:

You will note from my resume the progressive responsibilities and skill levels that I have acquired during my twenty eight (28) plus years of experience with Lamar County makes me the perfect candidate for this position. After being with the County for so many years I would truly appreciate the chance to be able to once again provide my work experience and knowledge to Lamar County.

As all of you already know I have an extensive background in management, finance, personnel, purchasing and computers. I also have extensive experience in handling all type of office duties, dealing with personnel and the public. I have acquired the skill of multitasking and will work until the task(s) is done. As each of you know I am a very organized individual, a quick learner and expect all of the County's work to be correct and on time.

I believe that I have the most knowledge and back ground of any applicant when it comes to Lamar County not only in the office but also in the field. I have always had a good working relationship with the majority of the Department Heads and co-workers. In me, you already know that I am reliable, detail-oriented, and have a very strong work ethic.

Please feel free to contact me at any of the numbers listed on my resume at any time. It would be a pleasure to be able to discuss my ability to return to Lamar County and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Patricia E. Stephens

According to her letter, she was near perfect an employee. Why isnt she still in this position? I guess being perfect will not hold your job for you.

She is free to apply for the job just as any of you. Apply yourself. The worst that can happen is that you won't get the job. Henry will probably run for district attorney soon and Gene will run for the Senate. The presidency will be available in 2008. Maybe Bobby will eye that position.

Larry, Moe, and Curley running for higher office. That is a riot

Probably a legal ploy so she can sue the county

Patty is a private citizen now.

It is 100% illegal for anyone to leak or publish (including posting on this blog) a private citizen's application for employment. It is NOT public record. It was NOT at a public meeting.

If I was Patty I would sue the heck out of the county and whoever published or publishes her application or cover letter.

This is a very serious legal matter.

By the way, too late to delete this one. All one needs to do is go to the window, hit alternate print scrn, and past the blog into a word document. Or go to the blog question, right click on select all, then hit copy. Then paste it into a word document. You will have the entire gaff saved as a file.

Once again by not following the law the county has opened itself up for a lawsuit, as has "Mr. scoop".

WOW.......Do you think any of them will actually consider her?

Unless Mrs. Stephens gave Walter Geiger a copy of her letter to him for publication, that is a violation of ethical behavior, and I have lost all respect for the man and the Herald-Gazette. Whoever gave a copy of the letter to Mr. Geiger is also guilty of unethical behavior. I'm sure several people have applied for this position. Why were those letters not also given to Walter and why has Walter not printed them on this blog? I don't recall the grand jury indicting Mrs. Stephens for any violation of the law. I have yet to see where she has been found guilty of any crime. Shame on you Walter!! Shame on you!!

Does anyone know for sure that this act of printing the letter (or resume) is actually illegal or do you just not like the fact it was published. I don't know either but before we start slinging to much mud, let's get the facts straight (whatever they maybe.)

WDM, try not to be an apologist for errors in judgement that our paper makes. Printing that resume was out of bounds whether it was legal or not. I guess it makes for a good topic on this blog but it's too bad that someone has to be embarassed publically for applying for a job.
Boy, I sure hope someone gets a grip on that courthouse and soon.

Im sure WG did a little research to make sure this was legal...I hope so anyway because, if not I would sue the hell out of him if I were Patty. Maybe Patty gave her approval....who knows.

Walter,
Did they not teach any ethics classes during your stay at UGA?

Even if Patty hand delivered this letter to you, there is no reason to post only a single applicants letter for the public to read.

The rules are supposed to apply to all of us equally; you are not exempt!

This letter does not contain anything that would be illegal to release.

It may or may not be be in poor taste to release it, but releasing it isn't illegal and there is nothing anyone can do about it (including Stephens).

The gall shown by this application shows one reason that we don't need her. Make no mistake she is involved in a lot more of the county business than ou might think, given the circumstances.

If I was her, I wouldn't want that job back!!! Look how she was treated and after all those years of loyal service!!! She might have been wrong for what she did, but why didn't the commissioners (weren't they her bosses)call her on the carpet, reprimand her and let it go???? They let the law come in and tote her off like a common criminal!!! What would it be like for her if she did go back to work there???? I think she can do better!!! And that would be the best revenge!!
